Alcatel Idol 4, which debuted at the Mobile World Congress 2016 earlier this year, has finally made its way to the Indian market. The Idol 4 has been launched in India at Rs.16999, which is lower than what you will need to pay for the BlackBerry DTEK50, which is essentially the same device. The Alcatel Idol 4 will be available in Gold, Metal Silver, and Dark Grey color options in India, exclusively from online retailer Flipkart. Sales kick off at 2PM IST today. The smartphone comes bundled with a Virtual Reality (VR) headset in the box, which will allow you to immerse yourself in 360-degree videos and games. You will also be getting a JBL stereo headset in the box.
The smartphone features a 5.2-inch 1080 x 1920 Full HD resolution IPS LTPS display with a pixel density of 424 pixels per inch. Under the hood, runs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 octa-core chipset clocked at 1.7 GHz, with the Adreno 405 GPU. It comes with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, with a Hybrid dual SIM card slot. That means you can expand the storage further by up to 512GB, but only if you use the Idol 4 as a single-SIM device.
The Idol 4 features a 13MP snapper at the back with phase detection autofocus, Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), an f/2.0 aperture lens, and a dual-tone LED flash. The front-facing camera offers 8MP resolution, an 84-degree wide-angle lens, and a dedicated LED flash for selfies in the dark. In the audio department, the smartphone packs dual stereo speakers, with each speaker being a 3.6W unit. It also gets a Smart PA (Power Amplifier) TFA9890, Waves MaxxAudio technology, and a BOOM Key Experience Booster.
Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, NFC, 4G LTE, and USB OTG support. The battery inside the Idol 4 is a 2610mAh unit, with support for the Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 fast charging standard. The Idol 4 measures 147 x 72.5 x 7.1mm and weighs in at 135 grams. It runs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system, with company’s custom UI layer running on top.
