BlackBerry Official Compares the DTEK60 to Google’s Pixel XL

BlackBerry revealed its newest smartphone a few days ago, the DTEK60, and even though it has just seen the light of day, it’s already compared to some of the premium devices that were launched this year. Marty Beard, who is the company’s CO, gave a webcast interview in which he claimed that the DTEK60 will rival smartphones such as the Pixel XL and the iPhone 7 Plus. He focused on the price tag of the phone, and said that the DTEK60 is $200 cheaper than the aforementioned handsets, which gives it more value taking into consideration the hardware components that it has to offer.

Looking at the specs, the BlackBerry official is not far from the truth when he states that the DTEK60 can rival the Pixel XL because they do have a lot in common. Both smartphones have displays that measure 5.5 inches and they both have similar Qualcomm branded SoCs, the BlackBerry DTEK60 being powered by the Snapdragon 820, while the Pixel XL being underpinned by the Snapdragon 821, which is basically the same processor but it runs at higher frequencies. Moreover, the screens of both devices have a resolution of 2560 x 1440.

The difference comes in the camera department. While the BlackBerry DTEK60 sports a 21 MP primary shooter, the Pixel XL boasts a snapper that has only a 12 MP sensor. Some might say that the former is a lot better, but the number of megapixels counts only on paper because there is much more to it when it comes to the quality of the camera. Actually, Google’s product provides the highest rated camera ever, and there is a very small chance that the DTEK60 could be better in this area than the Pixel XL.

Memory-wise, there is a huge difference. of course, they both include 4 GB of RAM, but the DTEK60 features only 32 GB of native storage, whereas the Pixel XL provides no less than 128 GB of integrated storage. However, they both come with a microSD card slot so the storage space can be expanded. All in all, the BlackBerry DTEK60 does seem similar to the Pixel XL, but we don’t know if the owners will have the identical experiences when using the handsets.
