On 26 February MediaTek officially launched its new Helio P60 chipset. The SoC is the first generation of smartphones SoCs that includes the Mobile APU (Advanced Processing Unit) and also have AI Processing Unit, and NeuroPilot AI technology. MediaTek Helio P60 chipset uses Arm Cortex A73 and A53 size core architecture. Compared to the previous generation, Helio P23 and Helio P30, Helio P40 CPU and GPU performance is up to 70%. The 12nm FinFET process enhances the excellent power performance of the Helio P60, dramatically extending the battery life of the smartphone.
The architecture of MediaTek Helio P60 chipset is based on eight core sizes. These include built-in four ARM A73 clocked at 2.0 GHz processor, and another four Arm A53 clocked at 2.0 GHz. Helio P60 chipset is using 12nm FinFET technology, and it is the most power consumption system single chip.
If we compared MediaTek previous chipset like P23, the overall performance of P60 was improved by 12%. Meanwhile, the power consumption is 25% lesser for heavy games and also extend smartphones life. MediaTek Helio P60 includes MediaPort Core Pilot 4.0 technology that will help to manage various tasks in the smartphone, providing:
- Temperature management
- Monitor user experience
- Processor performance and power consumption optimization
- Enabling a wide range of systematically intensive tasks Provide long lasting battery performance.
For the very first time, MediaTek P60 chipset brings NeuroPilot AI technology to smartphones. NeuroPilot computing architecture smoothly and continuously coordinates the operation of the CPU, GPU, and APU, that allows applications to run smoothly and maximize the performance of the smartphone.
The P60 chipset is packed and supports a broad range of popular AI architecture, including the NeuroPilot Software Development Kit (SDK), which is fully compatible with the Android Neural Network API (Android NNAPI). This allows the developers to build MediaTek P60 chipset platform easily and quickly to provide a variety of innovative AI applications to market. MediaTek also committed to enabling the support of ONNX (Open Neural Network Exchange) in the second quarter of 2018.
Main Highlights Of MediaTek P60 Chip :
- Build 4G LTE modem.
- Have dual SIM and dual VoLTE.
- TAS 2.0 smart antenna switching technology (providing smooth network speed).
- A73 Cores introduced
- The 12nm process
The Helio P60 allows smartphone makers to bring smarter, better-performing, and more reliable smartphones to the market.
MediaTek said Helio P60 chipset will start to integrate inside smartphones of the second quarter of 2018. What do you think about MediaTek Helio P60 SoC? Does this drastic upgrade satisfy you? Let us know in the comments.
