A few weeks back, we told you about a leaked benchmark listing that revealed the key hardware specifications of Alcatel OneTouch Idol 4. Today, the OneTouch Idol 4 as well as the OneTouch Idol 4s have been spotted on Alcatel’s support website, confirming all the key tech specs of both handsets.
The OneTouch Idol 4 features a 5.2” 1080 x 1920 Full HD IPS display with OGS full lamination and 428 PPI pixel density. Under the hood, the smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 MSM8952 octa-core SoC clocked at 1.7GHz. The quad-core chipset will be paired with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable onboard storage. As far as the cameras go, on the back the handset sports a 13MP resolution shooter with a dual-tone LED flash and EIS video stabilization while on the front you get an impressive 8MP selfie snapper with a wide-angle lens. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone comes with Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n dual-band, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, Micro USB 2.0, OTG support, GPS with A-GPS, LTE Cat.4/Cat.6 support (depending on the model), and Dual SIM standby. The battery inside is rated at 2610mAh, which is slightly disappointing. Dimensions-wise, the OneTouch Idol 4 measures 147 x 72.5 x 7.1mm and weighs in at 130 grams.
The OneTouch Idol 4S on the other hand is a more impressive smartphone with some pretty compelling hardware inside. The front of the smartphone will be dominated by the large 5.5-inch 1440 x 2560 Quad HD AMOLED display boasting of 180 degree viewing angles and great outdoor readability. Apart from a bigger and higher resolution display, the Idol 4S will also be a lot more powerful than the regular Idol 4 as it packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 MSM8976 octa-core chipset clocked at 1.8GHz. In terms of memory, the smartphone includes 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. A microSD card slot is included, so you will be able to expand the memory further quite easily. At the back, the OneTouch Idol 4S is equipped with a 16MP primary shooter with a dual-tone LED flash and EIS video stabilization. On the front, you get the same 8MP wide-angle selfie snapper as the Idol 4. The selfie camera comes with various features such as Parallax selfie, real-time face beautification, and a flash for taking selfies in low-light. Connectivity features are similar to the Idol 4 but the 4S does add faster Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac dual-band support. The battery inside is larger too, rated at 3000mAh. The OneTouch Idol 4S measures 153.9 x 75.4 x 6.99mm and tips the scales at 149 grams.
Both these upcoming Alcatel smartphones will be running on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system when they go on sale. It is expected that the duo will be making their official debut at Alcatel’s MWC 2016 press conference at the Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona later this month.
