Vernee Mars Pro Review – The Budget Flagship Killer?

Vernee Mars Pro, After some “flop” smartphones and returning with a great entry-level, Vernee tries again and this time try to impress with a new budget range smartphone.

That promises great performance and equipment levels of hardware amongst all budget-flagship killer.

But will it be really able to convince, especially at a very contained price? Let’s find out the new Vernee Mars Pro in our review!

Vernee Mars was definitely one of the most successful smartphones by the Young Vernee company. A smartphone that united a wonderful display with thin edges (when the borderless had not yet become the new trend)

At very attractive benefits. Vernee Mars Pro inherits all the good things that were in Vernee Mars … but also the flaws of its predecessor.

Aesthetically speaking, little has changed, in fact, virtually nothing: the only difference from Vernee Mars is in black color, certainly more pleasant and “business style”.

Unfortunately, the fingerprint sensor remains on the right side of the phone and again is inconvenient to reach and even inaccurate recognition (unlocks the smartphone twice out of ten).

It is also maintained the USB-C connector in the bottom of the phone and in the up a headphone jack for connecting the headphones.

The camera continues to stick out, but really very little at the Rear.

The display of Vernee Mars Pro is a stunning 5.5-inch in Full HD resolution and with curved edges,

Covered by Gorilla Glass 3 that ensures a good durability.

The quality of the panel is very high: it is definitely at the top of the category in this price segment.

Well-saturated colors, high brightness, and remarkable detail, exactly how we got on Vernee Mars. The Touch response is well accurate too.

The “ink” mode that simulates a screen e-ink for less straining the eyes. We do not know to tell you whether it is more practical or not, but actually using this mode, we thought we were less straining our eyes.

On board of this smartphone is a new processor. We are talking about MediaTek Helio P25, an Octa-Core SoC clocked at 2.5 GHz and accompanied by a Mali T880 GPU and a well 6GB of RAM just like those found on far more famous smartphones like OnePlus 5 and Honor 9.

Compared to Vernee Mars it also doubles the storage memory, more expandable (up to 256 GB) and with an internal storage of 64GB.

3G, 4G, A-GPS, Bluetooth.
WIFI: 802.11a/b/g/n wireless internet
Network type: FDD-LTE, GSM, WCDMA
2G: GSM 1800MHz, GSM 850MHz, GSM 900MHz
3G: WCDMA B1 2100MHz, WCDMA B8 900MHz
4G LTE: FDD B1 2100MHz, FDD B20 800MHz, FDD B3 1800MHz, FDD B7 2600MHz

Vernee Mars Pro

The phone hooks up rather well the signal (although it does not reach the top of the category in this price segment).

For the audiophile fans, there is nothing special for this phone as it neither has a stereo speaker, DAC, or any 32-bit audio support. But Don’t worry the quality from the speaker is pretty nice and has good deep clear sound output. Though you should not expect a decent Sound in a rather noisy environment.Vernee Mars Pro

On board, there is Android 7.0 Nougat customized (but only slightly) from Vernee with his VOS. There are additional features but there are a few more options to personalize your smartphone. There is a gesture for specific functions and the “pocket” mode that prevents accidental touches when the phone is, in fact, in the pocket. Very Google-style experience and maybe it’s good.

On Vernee Mars Pro, there are two cameras:  the front uses a 5-megapixel sensor, while the rear is “satisfied” of a 13 megapixel. Unfortunately, the camera (and the video industry) are among the negative points of this smartphone. The quality of the shots is generally low and worsens at night until they become really awkward and unusable for any purpose, even social. At the writing of this review, the phone also suffers from a major problem with the focus that sometimes remains “blocked” and not act when as it should. Of the video it might be best not to talk about: low quality, minimum and stabilization virtually no detail.

Another point that has not convinced: the battery. On Vernee Mars Pro it has a 3500 mAh battery which makes it rather clumsy with the VOS software, it’s still a 3,500 mAh, so with a little ‘of precautions you can smoothly close the day, but if you put the smartphone in major long-time duration you might see the smartphone drain very quickly, but at least it does not get warm.

There are some power savings options, Also there is still a pretty fast charger that might come in handy…

Prices and Conclusions

Vernee Mars was an almost perfect smartphone for the time when it was launched and the price at which it was proposed.

Vernee Mars Pro actually does not go worse than Mars,

But we could expect more. Vernee limited itself to offering, even more, power

(which is convenient, for heaven’s sake) and more memory (even this is welcome)

But they forgot to work on Mars main problems: the fingerprint sensor and battery.

To this it is also added a camera that surprises in the negative aspect and that it is hoped can be at least partially improved with future updates. The Build Quality seems Good and the Display is awesome for its price.

But Wish it Would have done well in other major aspects too!
