Xiaomi’s sales numbers for this year are incredible. The company has already managed to ship over 60 million units until today. This number is going to increase and reach up to 90 million at the end of the year. This is not only our prediction but an official statement. Today Xiaomi CEO, Lei Jun announced they are expecting for this number for 2017.
To understand whether this is a good result or no let’s take a glance at the data of previous years as well as compare it with the number of other players in the market. First, Xiaomi has shipped 61 million units in 2014. The next year was more successful for the company and it sold over 70 million smartphones. As for 2016, the company didn’t provide any official information concerning the sales numbers, but different sources mention it was 58 million. At the moment, the company has managed to sell more than in the past year. This means it has already exceeded this result. But what’s amazing, as Lei Jun mentioned, this is for the first time in the mobile history, when a company rises after a decline.
Second, last year Huawei lead the table of the bestselling smartphone brands in China. It has managed to ship over 139 million units. The second and third positions were occupied by Oppo and Vivo with 95 million and 82 million shipped units, respectively. Thus if nothing changes for other manufacturers, Xiaomi has all chances to grab the second or third positions in the list.
However, Xiaomi has already released all of its flagships, and there is left only one device to come before the end of 2017. It is going to be the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus (and not the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5X, as supposed). This is not a flagship, but it is capable of making a stir around it. If you doubt, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus will be the cheapest full-screen smartphone in the globe.
