A couple of years back when the Xiaomi Mi 5 was out, and it was one of the best smartphones in the globe, Xiaomi was the leader in the Chinese smartphone market. The company sold over 70 million units in 2015. However, the next year wasn’t so successful for the manufacturer, as it shipped only 58 million smartphones. Many Mi haters have been waiting for worse results in 2017. Fortunately, this manufacturer could fill the gaps in its strategy, and as we have already seen it showcases astonishing sales performance. Today Xiaomi CEO, Lei June announced they have shipped over 10 million smartphones in September only. This is a great number. Congratulations!
Last year Huawei was the absolute leader in the domestic market. It has shipped over 139 million units. Oppo was the second with 95 million shipments. And finally, Vivo was the third with 82 million units. If all three manufacturers show identical results, Xiaomi has all chances to grab the second or the third position in the top ten list.
As for the official shipment data, the company sold 13 million smartphones. But it’s been a quite expected result. I mean the manufacturer launched only one device during the first three months, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X. They have been thinking the company will provide better results in Q2.
The Q3 results are impressive as well. Xiaomi has sold 27 million smartphones. Thus this indicator continues to rise. It turns out Xiaomi has already managed to sell over 63 million units in last 9 months. So what can prevent it from reaching up to 80 million in 2017?
At the end, there is no reason to surprise at. As Xiaomi CEO said, there are three core factors laying behind these figures – innovation, quality, and delivery. Especially, the latter is what Xiaomi didn’t have last year. That’s why Lei June has celebrated this event with the colleagues from research and development, supply chain, marketing, sales and service departments. Plus, currently, Xiaomi is offering a wide range of great smartphones including the Mi MIX 2, Mi 6, Mi Note 3, Mi 5X, Redmi Note 5A, and other models. So it’s logical why customers prefer them from others. By the way, Xiaomi is the only smartphone maker that came back from decreased sales.
